There is legitimate cause to challenge that moniker of "la Loca". She may not have been unstable at all.Mariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16602073117071941271noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-297743534213606590.post-76860212404700462642023-07-25T13:50:19.534-07:002023-07-25T13:50:19.534-07:00Thank you so much, not only for reading, but also ...Thank you so much, not only for reading, but also for taking the time to reply. After they died, you often see penciled notations added to these books, giving the birth name and religious name of the person behind the pseudonym.

This has caused problems with living religious who are hymnwriters or composers, particularly ones in countries foreign to hymnal publishers, because the hymn credits would be Br. X Y; and so the publishers would have a hard time tracking down who should get paid. One fairly prolific male French composer had a bunch of his songs listed as Trad. or Folk, when he was still alive and kicking. Ooooops. ("I Received the Living God" was one of his, IIRC.)Bansheehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12594214770417497135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-297743534213606590.post-84281210728392334202023-05-18T02:59:51.093-07:002023-05-18T02:59:51.093-07:00This is very helpful, Thank you! This is very helpful, Thank you!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-297743534213606590.post-44183372204172855032023-05-02T20:33:17.395-07:002023-05-02T20:33:17.395-07:00Thank you so much not only for reading but also fo...Thank you so much not only for reading but also for taking the time to reply! True, there isn't a lot in the historical record apart from the gifts of money and land Gaunt gave to her for the upkeep her and their children, but it says a lot about their relationship to me. The fact that he married her after his political and unhappy marriage to Constance, with whom he rarely lived, also says a lot about his feelings for her. Call me a romantic, but I think their actions speak about a deep, abiding love.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-297743534213606590.post-33630028386252059372023-01-29T17:03:19.442-08:002023-01-29T17:03:19.442-08:00Thank you! In taking a closer look at the blog today, I noticed you have listed the Saints, Sisters and Sluts blog which I contributed to when it initially started .This blog no longer exists but I have carried on the research and writing on my own personal blog, TheFreelanceHistoryWriter.com. My eyes have been opened widely and now it is impossible for me to view history other than through the eyes of women. It would be my greatest pleasure to discuss women's history with you some day and to discuss my current project, a book on the lives of royal and aristocractic women in the age of the Valois Burgundian Empire. One of my favorite discoveries: Catherine of Burgundy, Duchess of Austria. What a woman! The practices of asceticism--including food refusal--have a long history in Christianity. The two books I suggest in the post--by Rudolph Bell and Caroline Walker Bynum--are the place to start for a history of extreme fasting.Sharon L.
